How would you rate Home Advisor?
Are house cleaners thoroughly screened to ensure they have a clean background? And can they be relied upon?
“I can't speak for the house cleaners, but I personally don't have trust in the company due to my recent experience.”

I made a payment in advance for a service. How can I verify the identity of the person I hired and ensure that the service will be completed? Unfortunately, I do not have a contact phone number.
“You may not be aware, but you need to contact Home Advisor and be prepared to wait on hold for approximately an hour until they answer your call.”
“It's not only about who contributed to HA, but also about who funded the lead, which will involve a few individuals simultaneously.”
“Hello, Home Advisor only considers contractors who have paid into their business. This means they might overlook several reputable contractors until they find one who has an account with Home Advisor and has paid their annual fees. Before they arrive, you will receive a phone call or email with the name of the company. However, the contractor is not allowed to provide an estimate while at your home. Instead, they usually contact Home Advisor the next day to discuss a quote. Personally, I find this process time-consuming and overly secretive. I prefer to receive a quote while the contractor is in my own home. It's also important to have the contact information of the technician or plumber who will be coming to your home. My advice is to research the national average costs associated with the work you want to be done. It's helpful to have an estimate in mind before Home Advisor provides their quote. Additionally, you can request a refund if you're not satisfied.”

Hmm.. Home Advisor is currently offering free business profiles, but their ratings are terrible. What is happening? Should I consider creating a business profile on their platform as a business owner?
“Homeadvisor is the worst. As a business owner, I would never want to be associated with them.”
“I had an incredible guy working on my lawn, but unfortunately, they took a portion of the money and overcharged me today. It wasn't his fault, but I had to cancel their services. I don't want to continue paying $200 a month for my small lawn to be cut, especially when it usually costs $120, including hedges, with a different company.”
“I haven't signed with them because they have been constantly calling me for the past six months, and now they seem desperate for me to sign with them. However, I have no desire to sign with them after hearing about how they treat contractors who have contracts with them. I recently signed with a family-owned realty company, and even they advised me not to sign with the other company. Despite repeatedly telling Home Advisor that I am not interested in their business, they continue to ignore my request and call me. Now, they pretend to be homeowners requesting painting services, but when I ask for their location or more information, they suddenly ask me to do a background check and sign up for free. However, I have to pay them a percentage of my leads or the size of the job, without any guarantee of work. I can't trust giving money to a company that is deceitful right from the start of a phone call. It's important to be cautious because I have been hearing negative things about them from various sources.”

How much is your charge per lead? In the event that you receive a lead requesting a service that you do not offer, do you provide a refund? If so, how long does it take for the refund to be processed?
“The cost of leads ranges from $30 to $90. However, it's important to note that these leads may not be genuine. In fact, I have recently suspended our account with them because they refuse to provide legitimate leads and have deceived us, resulting in the loss of hundreds of dollars. I highly recommend using Angie's List instead, as most of our successful leads come from there. Alternatively, you could save your money and consider investing in advertising on platforms like Facebook and Nextdoor.”
“I was charged around $40 per lead. Getting refunds can be quite challenging.”
